TWO SETS of Workers in SILVER HOT SUITS
12 workers to bring your furnace to life
This is an OUT OF PRODUCTION kit from the Walthers Steel Works series first offered in 1996. This Kit is MINT in the Sealed Shrinkwrap Box.
When first struck, the electric arc sounds like gunfire as it leaps and breaks. The flash is like lightning during a severe thunderstorm. Viewed through a sight glass with a pair of protective glasses, the entire mass appears to be boiling as its heated to 3,000°F. All the while, the wailing, screaming, roaring noise never stops. The cost-effective electric furnace is the backbone of a modernized steel works. They're also the heart of mini-mills, built in various parts of the US, that create new steel from scrap. As impressive as the real thing, our kit includes the furnace with electrodes and other interior details. Craneways accommodate the Heavy-Duty Overhead Crane (933-3150, sold separately) and spreader bars and monstrous J hooks are included to convert the crane for steel service. With its modular construction and optional cut-out end doors, its a snap to create a custom building.
Say the work Steel and these Huge Furnaces are the centerpiece of a Milling Operation. An area filled with rail traffic 24 hours a day moving hot molten steel and hot steel loads form building to building as this staple of American Industry turns raw ore or scrap metal into usable Steel again.
Hoppers bring up load after load of iron ore or taconite, coke and limestone. Hot metal cars carry the molten steel to the converters, while slag cars take their loads to the dump.
At last, here's a model that captures the power of the prototype and still fits the average layout. This complete kit includes the furnace, Control panel, Ladels and interior detail of an arc furnace for melting down raw iron or scrap to produce steel.
Designed for easy construction and includes complete instructions. Your finished model can be used as the centerpiece of a layout serving the steel industry, or a super addition to any industrial area.
The signature structures of any Heavy Industry Skyline,The Electric Furnace along with the Blast Furnace (sold separately) dominated the steel city skylines during the hayday of the HEAVY INDUSTRY ERA.
This was the last of the Heavy Industry plants where everything moved by rail.
