This is a 40 ft Flatcar in Red lettered in white for the ATSF Santa Fe. This is a New unit fresh out of the box. The car is clean with clear lettering on it. The lettering is all in place. The details are all in place. All of the steps. air tanks and air cylinders, stake pockets and brake stanchion and wheel are in place. The car comes equipped with Knuckle Couplers.
The car features a laser etched wood deck.
The load is an IH 826 Open Station Row Crop Tractor. This is one of the GOLD HOOD DEMONSTRATOR Series. These units were sent to the dealers to introduce the new line of tractors. The hoods were painted GOLD on these as an advertising program. This unit also has the GOLD wide rear fenders. It is new and fresh off the line. The Tractor is cabled (Chained) down to the car. The load is held securely in place by the tensioning of the cables(Chains). You are able to lift the Tractor unit and the car remains tightly secured to it.
A common practice in the midwest was for the dealer to rent the tractor out and with the GOLD HOOD everyone in the neighborhood new who had the newest tractor in the field. This was an effective advertising program at the time to generate interest and sales.
The Tractor is NOT GLUED on it is cabled (Chained) in place and can be removed. The cabling is in bronze and is run through the stake pockets. It looks like yellow oxide chain as it moves on the tracks. The Tractor is held securely with this system and it stays right in place. It is correctly cabled (Chained) with an Eight-point tie-down system. It has two from the front axle going forward and aft. It also has two from the rear axle going forward and aft. The ones from the front axle are crossed to help keep the unit centered.
The Tractor rests on real wood blocking under the front and rear axles. The blocking allows the tractor profile to be lowered for shipment.The wood blocking is slightly weathered and adds a nice contrast to the deck. The car is balanced and runs down the rail nice and smooth.
The IH INTERNATIONAL 826 Tractor is nice and DETAILED with rubber lug tires on Silver rims with Red cast Centers. The tractor features a GOLD ROPS roll bar with a WHITE CANOPY. The interior is detailed with white wrap-around seat,steering wheel, Dash control, Red Operator's Platform, rear wrap-around fenders, grab holes in the GOLD Fenders, as well as, clutch and brake foot pedals. The tractor has fenders, black oval muffler,PTO Shield, Hydraulic servo blocks, detailed axle housings, transmission cover and rear mounted implement sway control arms for the hydraulic lift system. The rear of the tractor features GOLD fenders with hand grab holes, detailed rear axle housings, and a rigid hitch. The cab has an open station with the nice dash detail. The dash has the Torqu Amplifier shifter, Twin shifting levers, clutch and brake pedals, red battery box, brake servo and hydo controller with simulated piping, and linkage controls. The front of the tractor features the GOLD hood with air intake louvers, deep stepped oil pan, side frame rails with simulated fasteners, and detailed bar style grill. The sideskirts in GOLD hide the radiator and fan housing but are open to show the engine details. The engine features the simulated twin fuel filter air intake piping, twin oil filters, exhaust manifold, alternator, injector pump and detailed oil lines, fuel lines and piping. The hood also has the top mounted GOLD fuel cap, GOLD air intake and the black Muffler. The front of the hood features black and silver grill detail, the IH logo, the GOLD grill housing, white stripe along the hood with the black insert which reads INTERNATIONAL add to the realism. The hood also has the script written Turbo lettering and the 826 diesel on the sideskirt.
The Wheel and Tire assemblies have been remove to lower the tractors profile. The Wheel assembly is mounted at the rear of the car. The wide rear rubber lugged rear tires are mounted at the rear of the car and the ribbed rubber front tires are mounted in front of the tractor. The wheel assemblies are NOT GLUED together and are NOT GLUED down to the deck. The Wheel assemblies are stacked two high and are tensioned down to the deck with bronze cable (Chains). The Wheel assemblies are chained in a criss-cross pattern which holds them securely in place and to the deck. The x-pattern keeps them from moving during shipment. The wheel assemblies rest on real wood blocking to keep them off the deck and to allow a forklift to get under them for unloading..
The PARTS Crate is mounted infront of the Tractor. The crate would have contained accessory parts for reinstalling the wheels and implement mounts. The crate has a white weatherwrap tucked under at the corners. The white weatherwrap has the IH in black on it and a Red rectangle which reads INTERNATIONAL HARVESTOR in white lettering. This appears on the top and both ends of the weathercover. The crate is real wood covered with a white weatherguard tucked at the corners. The crate is strapped to the deck. The crate is of the pallet-style which allows them to be unloaded by a forklift and allow you to see under the crate. The pallet keeps the crate off the deck.
The car may be weathered for an added fee and would add 5 days to shipping.
